Jesus never forgot to pray - 2
Luke 5:15 tells
us, that Jesus had just healed a leper and the report went around concerning Him
all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear Him and to be healed by
Him of their infirmities.
Luke 5:16 tells us, so He himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.
Even in the midst of a great revival of healings and miracles Jesus never forgot the importance of personal prayers. He was never too tired to meditate on the word of His father and to pray. Although He knew it was necessary to rest.
As a man and Son of God, He knew He could go in His presence, sit in His laps and as He would lean on His chest, He could truly hear His heart beat and the answer of His prayers.
What was the result of His personal prayer? Three great things took place.
1) Because He prayed, He
received a great boldness to teach among those who would oppose His ministry,
Luke 5:17
How is our prayer life? Let us pray that we too can stand for Jesus among
those who are opposing the Gospel of Jesus but under the power of His love and
His grace.
2) Because He prayed, the
power of the Lord was present to heal them, that includes the Pharisees and
teachers of the law, Luke 5:17
Let us prayer that the healing power of Jesus, will always be at present
when we witness or preach among those who are opposing the Gospel of Jesus
Christ.
3) Because He prayed, He
demonstrated the power of God right in the midst of the Pharisees and teachers,
Luke 5:18-26
Let us continue to prayer that our preaching and witnessing will not be
with persuasive words of human wisdom but in demonstration of the Spirit and of
His power.
In closing our study this evening, I want to encourage you that three things can take place in our lives, as we spend quality time to pray without ceasing, 1 Thessalonians 5:17
1) Just as Jesus through
personal prayers, received a great boldness to teach among those who was
opposing His ministry, we too can receive that boldness through prayers.
2) Just as Jesus through personal prayers felt the power of the Lord was present
to heal them, we too can witness the same power of the Lord through prayers.
3) Just as Jesus through personal prayers was able to demonstrate the power of
God, we too can demonstrate the same power through our prayers.
