Prayers of Jesus

First prayer of Jesus and its result -1

Luke 3:21-23

21 when all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. 22 and the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are my beloved Son; in you I am well pleased.”

23 now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age,

21 when all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened.

In submitting to water baptism, Jesus surrendered Himself to the perfect will of God to take the place of sinners, behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. In submitting Himself to water baptism Jesus identified Himself with the sinners; He became their sin, 2 Corinthians 5:21
Jesus symbolically took the place of sinful humanity. What he did symbolically at His water baptism, He did in reality on the cross.

So what was the first thing Jesus did before He entered His ministry?
Answer: He prayed

Verse 21, while He prayed, something beautiful took place. There were great results of His first prayer.

  1. Verse 22, when He prayed the heaven was opened, so there is power in prayer. Let us continue to follow the example of Jesus that God will open the windows of heaven and pour out all His blessings upon us. It will come as we continue to surrender our lives to Him, not My will but Yours be done.
  2. Verse 22, Holy Spirit came upon Him, so the Anointing is received through prayer and kept through prayer.
  3. Verse 22, and a voice came from heaven, only in and through prayer one can hear the voice of God.
  4. Verse 22, the voice of God said, You are my beloved Son. God declared that Jesus is the son of God, God out of God. 'You are my beloved Son’ when we receive Jesus as our Lord and Saviour we too become the children of God. Our relationship is also confirmed in prayer.
  5. Verse 22, the voice also said in You I am well-pleased, God takes pleasure in our prayers.
  6. Verse 23, the ministry of Jesus was born in prayer.
  7. Luke 4:1, there is leading of the Holy Spirit in and through prayer
  8. Luke 4:3-4 when the devil questioned Jesus, Jesus answered him with wisdom, so wisdom is received through prayer, boldness is received through prayer, confidence is received through prayer, and authority is received through prayer. Jesus said it is written  -

Finally these eight things can take place in our lives, as we submit, surrender, humble and offer ourselves to his perfect will to pray without ceasing, 1 Thessalonians 5:17

1) Heaven will open, and will pour out his blessings.
2) Holy Spirit will continue His fellowship with us.
3) We will be able to hear the sweet voice of God.
4) God will declare before His angels & nations, that we are His children.
5) God will take pleasure in our prayer requests.
6) Our ministry will be born to manifest His grace to all the nations.
7) There will always be the leading of the Holy Spirit.
8) Wisdom and many other gifts of the Holy Spirit will be received.
